Gentleface for coding agents

Your coding agent can search the 1598 icons by meaning and get any of them as code, in the style and format your project uses. Connect the MCP server, or let the agent read llms.txt.

MCP server

https://gentleface.com/mcp. Streamable HTTP, no sign-in, free.

  • search_icons: find icons for a meaning or an action, ranked like the site search, with notes on which to prefer
  • get_icon: one icon as code in any format and style, with what it means, what to use instead and what it is confused with
  • get_icons: up to 30 icons at once, in one style and format
  • list_categories: the categories, with what each covers
  • get_category: every icon in a category

Claude Code

Run in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http gentleface https://gentleface.com/mcp

Claude (web, desktop)

Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, with the URL:

https://gentleface.com/mcp

Cursor

In .cursor/mcp.json (project) or ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "gentleface": {
      "url": "https://gentleface.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code (Copilot)

In .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "gentleface": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://gentleface.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Any other client

Add a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP, no authentication):

https://gentleface.com/mcp

The skill

The MCP server gives an agent the icons. The Gentleface skill tells it how to choose them: plan the icons a screen needs, search each meaning, keep one meaning per icon across the project (in an icons.manifest.json), one style, and sizes that stay crisp.

Claude Code

Install the skill for all projects:

mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && curl -fsSL https://gentleface.com/skill/gentleface-icons.zip -o /tmp/gentleface-icons.zip && unzip -o /tmp/gentleface-icons.zip -d ~/.claude/skills

Claude (web, desktop)

Download gentleface-icons.zip and upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.

Codex, Cursor and others

Paste SKILL.md into AGENTS.md or the project's agent rules.

Then ask

Use the Gentleface MCP to pick icons for the settings screen (profile, notifications, privacy, sign out) and add them as React components in the line-round style.

Without MCP

/llms.txt explains the set and its URL patterns. /icons.txt lists every icon with its meanings. /icons/{name}.md has an icon's code in every format, and /icons/{name}.json its data. How to use covers sprites, Iconify, PNG and native platforms.
